We are all guilty of the fast paced life- going, going, gone.
And eventually gone is our alone time and our rested self.

This not only applies to parents, but really anyone who could use a good re-charging.

You have a choice.

You have a choice to take a time out and give your mind and body the rest it deserves.
You aren’t doing anyone any favors by trying to be “superwoman” or “superman” if you aren’t fully charged.

Running on empty will only leaving you feeling empty.

So do yourself a favor and RELAX, REST and RECHARGE!

Here is a list of things that I have to purposefully make myself do, to keep my sanity and be the best of version of myself for my family and friends.

  • Write down three things every day that didn’t totally suck.

We all have something to be grateful for and sometimes it just takes stopping what we are doing and really appreciating the good. Writing these things down will really help put it into perspective.

  • Have a mini dance party.

With busy lives and hectic schedules it is important to remember to have some fun and just be silly. Music does great things for the brain including increasing dopamine levels which act as motivation molecules. Research shows music reduces anxiety, depression and blood pressure…and you get to have fun! It’s a WIN WIN overall.

  • Get Moving.

Moving around for at least 30 minutes a day is good for your mental health as well as your physical. Physical activity increases endorphins, and in the wise words of Elle Woods, “Endorphins make people happy and happy people just don’t kill their husbands.”

  • Pamper Yourself.

Every now and then you just have to give in and pamper yourself. Get the pedicure, buy the shoes, splurge on the skincare. Pampering ourselves gives us a boost of confidence and for that moment in time we feel like we can do anything. Amazing what a few dollars spent can do! My go-to pampering product is this wonderful Resurfacing overnight peel from BeautyCounter. It never fails to give me that amazing glow! Check out ‘For the love of beauty’ post for more info.

Whatever it is that gets you to that happy rested place… do that! You deserve it and your body and mind will love you all the more.

When in doubt, chill out.
